beach day!

Tuesday, July 08, 2008

for some time now i've been wanting to spend a day at the beach...yesterday, it finally happened.

mello, michelle, ed and i drove out to laguna beach. by the time we got there it was time for lunch. we ended up at royal thai cuisine...the food was some of the best thai food i've had in awhile.

after lunch we crossed the street and walked down to the beach. mello brought along a small beach tent and she wore it as a backpack...doesn't she look really little? =]

michelle spent half the day digging for those little crab bug crawly things...haha. michelle, i think you like those little things a little too much.

while i was taking photos a lady walked up to me and asked if i wanted her to take a photo of all of us. she kept saying, "you guys are just so cute. here lets take another one. aww, you guys are just too cute!" haha. i wonder how old she thought we were...but at least we got a photo together.

after being out on the beach all day i was super hungry. and nothing sounded better then some good 'ol in 'n out.

of course then it was time for dessert. michelle has been telling me about this frozen yogurt place called yogurtland for awhile now. i finally got to try it. it was amazing. i think its my new favorite yogurt place. i couldn't decide on what flavor to get....so, since it is self-serve...i just got some mango, taro, strawberry and pistachio [my favorite].

but right before we went into yogurtland, mello and i found some big fob photobooths.   of course not as amazing as the fob photobooths in rowland heights, but they still were fun. these are two of our photos.

i realized that i don't really have any photos of the yogurt...well we weren't really supposed to take photos inside, maybe thats why. i just don't understand why all these yogurt places don't want you to take photos...

yesterday was another one of those wonderful summer days...i hope it wasn't the last...

happy family.

this evening i went to dinner with my family. we went to this new restaurant that opened near my house called happy family vegetarian restaurant. the food was pretty good...not the most amazing vegetarian chinese food i've ever had, but even so, it was good.

oh and before you judge my photos too harshly...i'm trying something out. for some reason a lot of chinese restaurants put photos of the food in their menus, and they tend to look the same...i tried to recreate that. sort of.

we split spring rolls and 3 other dishes. buddha's feast, some sizzling dish, and some liver and basil dish.

this editing makes photos of people look horrible...but i'm sure if they put photos of the cook in the menu he'd look like this. =]

so did i succeed? do you get the feeling of a chinese restaurant menu? or did i just do a horrible job of editing?

p.s.
happy 4th of july!

i felt like making cupcakes today. so thats what i did, i made cupcakes and talked my brother into helping me frost them.

they're super sweet [in more ways than one]. there are a lot and there is no way i'm going to be able to finish them. so if you want some come over and eat! ed i know you want some...seriously come over and get some.

oh and ashely i saved this one especially for you. =]

i can't really make any promises that it'll still be waiting for you once you get here...but its the gesture that counts right? =]

strawberry poppyseed.

Monday, June 30, 2008

my dad took me and my brother to panera for dinner tonight. it was the perfect summer dinner after a long day of working.

i got the new pomegranate red tea. a half mediterranean veggie sandwich with a half strawberry poppyseed salad. everything was good, but the salad was amazing.

if you haven't tried the strawberry poppyseed salad, you need to.

summer marathon.

today was just one of those days that i never wanted to end...

it started early this morning. i had an interview out in irvine, so i dragged mello and edsel with me so i could make a day out of the trip. after my interview we went to the irvine spectrum and walked around for awhile...but it wasn't too long before i was starving.

i try to go to this restaurant, native foods whenever i can and today was the perfect day for it...

after eating we walked around "the camp" and then went to "the lab." both anti-malls...i think mello and ed wanted to squeeze in some tanning after eating before shopping...

random signs at "the camp" that i thought looked kinda cool...

after eating i was super stuffed...we did a little shopping and then made our way to the beach. i wanted to stop by the balboa fun zone to take some photos at a photobooth, but when we got there i came to find that they replaced it with a digital one. i hate the digital photobooths...i guess i'll have to look for another one...

i don't know what ed is doing...

after the beach we really wanted some frozen yogurt. so we decided to head home...but it was bad timing i guess because traffic was horrible. by the time we got close to home i was hungry again. so we decided to eat at red robin before getting frozen yogurt. =]

i always like going to red robin because they have the best strawberry lemonade ever. i think they call it their freckle lemonade...the chunks of real strawberries are wonderful.

i don't think i was as hungry as i thought i was, because i could barely finish my food and i was soo full afterwards it wasn't funny. as much as we wanted frozen yogurt, we decided against it. since we all felt so full, we tried to walk it off.

we ended up at the park. ed rode a bike there, but as lazy as we are mello and i drove. i couldn't believe how nice the weather was this evening. it was weird and amazing.

believe it or not after the park mello wanted ice cream. i was still super full, but what did i do? i got ice cream! chocolate malted crunch. as full as i was it was still oh so good. ed got some boba and then we were off to jay's house. and after story time with jay i'm finally home.

after more than 12 hours out and about today i'm super sleepy and super content. i will sleep well tonight...
