san diego.

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

i guess you could say that yesterday was beach day part II. but instead of the OC we headed down to san diego.

our first stop was little italy for lunch. we ate at this little restaurant called vincenzo ristorante italiano. the food was really good and made me want to go back to italy.

after lunch we went to get some gelato, but the place we went to was completely out of gelato for the day. michelle and ed got some fruit stuff that looked pretty good, but i really wanted gelato. unfortunately i couldn't find any anywhere else that i wanted, so mello and i ended up splitting this...

and i also ate canoli. but i was a little disappointed, it wasn't as good as i was hoping it would be.

after eating we headed to coronado to go to the beach. ed spent most of the afternoon sleeping.

michelle, mello and i ended up spending a lot of the afternoon looking for sand dollars. i couldn't believe how many were out on the beach yesterday.

we stayed out on the beach until dinner time. once we started getting hungry again we headed out to oceanside to meet up with elly [our long lost andrews friend] for dinner.

elly took us out to this mexican resturant that had amazing burritos...they were huge!

michelle was the only one who completely finished her entire burrito.

after those burritos we were soo full. so we decided to walk it off by taking a stroll on the pier.

elly almost never smiles in pictures...he finally smiled in one photo, but of course he did it when everyone was looking at him and not the camera.

one of elly's friends caught some really cool looking shark fish things. i'm not really sure what they are, but they look kinda like a mix between sharks and sting rays...

as the sun started going down the light got really pretty. everything was soo nice last night and once again the weather was perfect.

unfortunately the night had to end and we had to go back home sometime...but we had one more unexpected stop...

yougurtland...we couldn't resist. =]

it was good to see you elly. thanks for showing us around. i'm coming back before the summers over!

beach day!

Tuesday, July 08, 2008

for some time now i've been wanting to spend a day at the beach...yesterday, it finally happened.

mello, michelle, ed and i drove out to laguna beach. by the time we got there it was time for lunch. we ended up at royal thai cuisine...the food was some of the best thai food i've had in awhile.

after lunch we crossed the street and walked down to the beach. mello brought along a small beach tent and she wore it as a backpack...doesn't she look really little? =]

michelle spent half the day digging for those little crab bug crawly things...haha. michelle, i think you like those little things a little too much.

while i was taking photos a lady walked up to me and asked if i wanted her to take a photo of all of us. she kept saying, "you guys are just so cute. here lets take another one. aww, you guys are just too cute!" haha. i wonder how old she thought we were...but at least we got a photo together.

after being out on the beach all day i was super hungry. and nothing sounded better then some good 'ol in 'n out.

of course then it was time for dessert. michelle has been telling me about this frozen yogurt place called yogurtland for awhile now. i finally got to try it. it was amazing. i think its my new favorite yogurt place. i couldn't decide on what flavor to get....so, since it is self-serve...i just got some mango, taro, strawberry and pistachio [my favorite].

but right before we went into yogurtland, mello and i found some big fob photobooths.   of course not as amazing as the fob photobooths in rowland heights, but they still were fun. these are two of our photos.

i realized that i don't really have any photos of the yogurt...well we weren't really supposed to take photos inside, maybe thats why. i just don't understand why all these yogurt places don't want you to take photos...

yesterday was another one of those wonderful summer days...i hope it wasn't the last...

happy family.

Friday, July 04, 2008

this evening i went to dinner with my family. we went to this new restaurant that opened near my house called happy family vegetarian restaurant. the food was pretty good...not the most amazing vegetarian chinese food i've ever had, but even so, it was good.

oh and before you judge my photos too harshly...i'm trying something out. for some reason a lot of chinese restaurants put photos of the food in their menus, and they tend to look the same...i tried to recreate that. sort of.

we split spring rolls and 3 other dishes. buddha's feast, some sizzling dish, and some liver and basil dish.

this editing makes photos of people look horrible...but i'm sure if they put photos of the cook in the menu he'd look like this. =]

so did i succeed? do you get the feeling of a chinese restaurant menu? or did i just do a horrible job of editing?

p.s.
happy 4th of july!

i felt like making cupcakes today. so thats what i did, i made cupcakes and talked my brother into helping me frost them.

they're super sweet [in more ways than one]. there are a lot and there is no way i'm going to be able to finish them. so if you want some come over and eat! ed i know you want some...seriously come over and get some.

oh and ashely i saved this one especially for you. =]

i can't really make any promises that it'll still be waiting for you once you get here...but its the gesture that counts right? =]

strawberry poppyseed.

Monday, June 30, 2008

my dad took me and my brother to panera for dinner tonight. it was the perfect summer dinner after a long day of working.

i got the new pomegranate red tea. a half mediterranean veggie sandwich with a half strawberry poppyseed salad. everything was good, but the salad was amazing.

if you haven't tried the strawberry poppyseed salad, you need to.
