today was such a lovely day. disneyland really is one of the best places to spend your birthday! & then vegetable tempura rolls for dinner? doesn't get much better than that!

i'm happier than usual that this week is coming to an end. i'm tired. physically, mentally & emotionally.

two of my family members were hospitalized this week. my brother, who is still there (dustin can you come home already?! i just might be missing you :) and my grandpa who was discharged today - he's so far away and i hate that i can't go visit him. both are going to be ok, but prayers are always greatly appreciated!

on a happier note i leave you with some photos i took with my phone of a photo shoot from this week. chet & i were up on a roof shooting a building across the street from us. lighting the building at night was such a big job that i called irv and he came and helped out.

to me the word serendipity brings to mind only one thing - frrrozen hot chocolate :)

even though i've only been once, i have so many memories in serendipity3 nyc! so once i was told that there is now one in vegas i couldn't stay away!

its true, while in vegas retro bakery wasn't the only stop we made.
this trip to serendipity i ate dinner in addition to dessert. the veggie burger was delightfully delicious! the mac and cheese on the other hand was sorely disappointing.

as if retro bakery + slidin' thru didn't give me enough reasons to go back to vegas, serendipity3 is yet another reason to add to my growing list.

let me introduce you to retro bakery, an amazing little place in las vegas about 25 mins from the strip...

meet kari, one of the amazing owners. in her hands is a fresh batch of megachip cookies. the drive to vegas is worth it just to eat one of these cookies straight out of the oven. these cookies are no joke!

her cupcakes are no joke either! the cake is moist and the frosting is ridiculously good! and i'm not the biggest fan of frosting to begin with, but after trying kari's frosting i now understand why people buy frosting shots. seriously.

and as if cookies and cupcakes weren't enough for one afternoon.. just outside the bakery, las vegas' one and only food truck made an appearance! slidin' thru - a slider truck.

meet ric, the super cool guy who drives this truck all over vegas! the saddest part of my whole weekend was that i didn't get a chance to try the eggplant caprese slider. but that just means that i'll have to go back soon!

now i didn't go out to vegas just to eat delicious baked goods {even though now that i've been there i just might}. i went out to see johnny at one of his stops on his suitcase tour!

its always nice seeing johnny. i love going to his events because i always seem to meet really amazing people! not to mention i get to hang out with my friends and eat cupcakes all day :)

weekend stripes.

i can't believe a new week has started already! i had a short getaway trip this weekend that was filled with bright colors & lights, good friends, laughter and {of course} good eats. more visuals coming.

the griddle.

breakfast for lunch is definitely one of my favorite things. actually breakfast anytime of the day is one of my favorite things! it hasn't always been that way, but irv's love of breakfast has slowly been rubbing off on me. 

we took a quick little trip out to LA today and it included a stop at the griddle cafe - a place that we've been trying to visit for over a month now and we finally made it! 

banana nana pancakes. brow-sugar baked bananas cooked inside a buttermilk batter. 

baked potato omelet. loaded w/ griddle potatoes, sour cream and scallions.  

the portions here are definitely sized for sharing! even after we were finished stuffing our faces, irv's banana pancakes looked as if they had barely been touched! griddle cafe is one of those places that requires more than just one visit. anyone wanna join in next time?

a few weeks ago we went to the ever pleasing cham sut gol for some korean bbq to celebrate irv's sister's bday. i absolutely love going there with big groups. 

a girl after my own heart, ella couldn't get enough ice cream. if you weren't careful and turned your back on her, she'd finish your cone before you'd know it!
